The group of like-minded friends at the Colaba Observatory, known as Sobati, was formed with a shared belief that we owe something to society. While each of us was contributing individually in small ways, we realized that by combining our efforts, we could create a more meaningful impact. With this thought, we decided to set aside a portion of our income each year to help those in need and to support deserving institutions. Since the formation of Sobati in 2013, we have been visiting various social organizations annually — spending time with them, understanding their needs, and extending both financial support and essential materials. As our initiative gained recognition, our collective resolve grew stronger. Over time, we focused our efforts on children deprived of education, initiating programs to support their learning and personal growth. Alongside this, we actively engaged with their families to promote overall development and help them overcome the challenges they face in everyday life. To continue this mission with deeper commitment, Sobati evolved into a registered organization in 2018, named the Sobati Social Foundation. Within three years, the foundation earned 80G certification, enabling donors to receive tax exemptions on their contributions. Today, the Sobati Social Foundation continues to implement various socially beneficial initiatives with sincerity and transparency. The trust and generosity of our supporters inspire us to remain dedicated to our cause — ensuring that every contribution reaches the right place and that both the donor and the recipient experience the joy of giving. This is Sobati’s dedication and belief

Sobati supports deserving students who are forced to discontinue education due to financial hardship. Students from Yavatmal, Ahmednagar, Pune, and Gadchiroli districts are currently pursuing medical studies in Dhule, Pune, and Mumbai under this scheme.Sobati provides sports equipment and educational materials to Ashram schools and village-level schools to support rural students.

In partnership with Jeevan Anand, a Day-Care Centre for street children was started in Dahisar. For the past four years, 25–30 children have benefited from this initiative. Children who earlier lived in extremely difficult conditions now show notable improvement in hygiene, behaviour, and learning. They can recite tables, read poems, draw, and make greeting cards—reflecting a significant positive transformation.
